Markets & Applications
The nanoenergetic compositions being advanced by EMPI are composed of discrete (nanometer and/or micrometer) length scale metal fuel particles and some suitable oxidizer. The oxidizers fall into two classes, namely solid phase, dry powders with micrometer length scales or special liquid oxidizers. The metal fuels used in the compositions are aluminum, boron and other high heat of combustion metals. Recently formulations based on the use of nanoaluminum with a perfluoropolyether (PFPE) liquid oxidizer have been shown to offer enhanced energetic properties. The ability to exploit novel metal-oxidizer systems with a broad range of metal-oxide formulations provides EMPI powerful tools to enable multiple applications in the following three markets.
